Share Ideas with RSNA Leaders at Residents Reception
Residents reception at RSNA 2007Residents are invited to enjoy complimentary refreshments, visit and share ideas in a relaxed setting at the Residents Reception on Monday, December 1, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place. RSNA leaders, including 2008 RSNA President Theresa C. McLoud, M.D., will be present to speak with reception attendees.

Don’t Miss Physics Tutorial for Residents
Patient dose will be the topic of the Physics Tutorial for Residents, presented by RSNA and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) on Saturday, November 29, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. in Room E351. Residents will examine the magnitude of radiation dose in medical imaging, the benefits versus the risks and the steps required to monitor and reduce dose in daily practice.

Relax, Eat, Network at RSNA Residents Lounge
The residents lounge at RSNA 2007The RSNA Residents Lounge provides RSNA members-in-training and non-member residents a place to relax and network while enjoying complimentary refreshments. The lounge is located in the Lakeside Learning Center (Hall E, Level 2, across from the entrance to Arie Crown Theater) and is open Sunday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the annual meeting.

The site provides information on nearly 100 radiology exams and procedures and attracts approximately half a million visitors each month. Heads Up on Grants and Programs

Online Application Process for R&E Grants Opens October 1
People interested in applying for research and education grants through the RSNA Research & Education (R&E) Foundation can begin preparing their applications online next month.

RSNA R&E FoundationOf particular interest to residents and fellows is the Fellowship Training Grant, which provides $50,000 in training support for young physicians in any specialty fellowship program. In addition, the Research Resident/Fellow Grant is targeted toward young investigators and helps recipients gain further insight into scientific investigation, developing competence in research techniques and methods. The grant provides $50,000 for a one-year Research Fellow project or $30,000 for a one-year Research Resident project. Funds may be used for salary support and/or non-personnel research costs.

Learn to Differentiate Degenerative Joint Disease
RadiologyReview for Residents in the September issue of Radiology shows readers a basic algorithm for the radiographic evaluation of arthritis. Readers will learn to differentiate inflammatory from degenerative causes of joint space narrowing, identify specific joints involved in typical osteoarthritis in patients at different ages, become familiar with less common causes for cartilage destruction and distinguish juvenile chronic arthritis and gouty arthritis from other common inflammatory arthritides.
